Science and Technology Review

With the technology of human, maybe one day we can travel in outspace in the outspace ships, just like we navigate on the sea. So why not the robot?

Recently, the NASA announced, the humanoid Robonaut 2, who have ever been to outspace station with the Discoverym, it will be taken off at the end of March, and it will gradually start work in the space station.

One officials of the Space Station said, they may take Robonaut 2 out from the package at later this month out, but that just is the first step. They need to teach it some complicated operations so can help the astronauts, but that’s will spend fews of months.

This important robot is called R2, it contains a computer-controlled body, a head and two arms with five fingers. It is designed to replace astronauts in doing some daily works in the space station. If it’s succeeded in the daily works, then they may consider to train it to do some more difficult and complicated tasks. Although R2 is still no legs, but NASA will update R2 into a lower torso and upgraded computers in the coming years. According to the director of Space Center Houston, Rob Ambrose introduced: “The aim to design the robot was originally to be able to work together and astronauts.”

They have cost about 250 million dollars in Robonaut 2, it can help astronauts walk in space, or do some housework, even it can take care of the sick astronauts. R2 can also be customized to help clean the aircraft, in the next few years even, R2 will be placed to work outside the space station.

But nowadays, the R2 is just slowly learning to work and walk, so it just only work for few things, and it also needs some time to be observed, so the NASA scientists can add more functions or tasks on it.
