SAN FRANCISCO November 18, according to “Nikkei Business Daily” reported Tuesday, Japan’s Sharp Corporation will begin to Sony LCD TV to provide light-emitting diode (LED) backlight components, expanding the two companies in LCD display fields. The two companies will jointly develop next-generation backlight components.
TV with LED backlight components, consumer electronics manufacturers are expected to become a major battleground. This collaboration may increase the Sharp and Sony and Samsung Electronics to compete more competitive.
The use of LED backlight components, LCD TV than using the traditional cold-cathode fluorescent lamp LCD TVs thinner, provide a better picture quality.
The two companies are reluctant to comment on this news. They say that they do not provide information on the individual components of the supply.
Sony in April 2011 plans to invest about ¥ 68,000,000,000 before the acquisition of Sony and Sharp in western Japan, the production of liquid crystal display joint venture, one third of the shares. The plant began production last month, is the world’s first 10th generation glass substrate processing.
